Hello Everyone,
my name is Edward, i am an interior designer in Hong Kong. i am a new guy to 3D printing, so i am not too familiar with 3D modeling software. the only 3D program i know how to use is SketchUp. can anyone suggest me some good 3D software that is user friendly, easy to learn and best compatible with snapmaker. as i understand snapmaker Luban is only a platform to import files then connect with the machine for according actions, am i right? can you actually compose 3D objects with Luban. i canāt find any tutorial on Luban, most tutorial are how to use snapmaker. i want to start getting used to some modeling software before I receive my snapmaker. Thanks very much
Hi, I am a 46 year old self-employed Software Engineer (iOS and macOS) living next to the border between Austria and Slovakia. I have two wonderful daughters (2 and 4) and I want to expose them to the creative possibilities of 3D printing, CNC and laser cutting/engraving. To show them that you can make many fun things yourself instead of having to buy them.
I received my Snapmaker 2.0 A350 and enclosure a few days ago and yesterday I finished assembly. Before doing the enclosure I printed a chain-mesh-fabric I found somewhere, because I couldnāt find the vaseā¦
For myself I have many small things around the house that I think are great little projects, like the first few that came to mind
- A fence post mounting bracket for a bird house I glued together from some left over wood
- dividers for my office drawers which are of a non-standard size
- a piece that goes into the cutout on the left side acrylic of the enclosure so that the filament holder can be looking forward instead of sticking out at the back. So that I can have the enclosure be closer to the wall
- a name puzzle where my daughters names are nice big letters cut out of wood.
How do I get started modeling something for printing? I have some experience with Sketchup, which I used to model stuff around my house. Would I use that too, or should I learn another software for that?
About the cutting and milling⦠where can I find info about how to choose settings that cut versus engrave? I am looking for some sort of basic tutorial or course that would get me - being a maker newbie - up to speed or at least to a level where I have some basic understanding how to approach simpler projects.
Welcome, to the great user community. Make sure you checkout the wonderful references in SnapLinks
Have fun

Hi all,
My name is Imke. Iām self employed, used to own a small woodworking factory in Bosnia & Hercegovina mainly creating wooden toys and before that used to be a technical Enterprise Content Management consultant. Iāve always loved to design stuff. Still waiting for my Snapmaker to arrive but planning to use it for home renovation and possibly to start a little sideline in custom designs. Iāll first try everything out on my family and my home though and I plan to be tinkering with it for a while.
Hi, I have been using the original Snapmaker since it first came out in the Kickstarter launch. A bit of fiddling at the start but I am now fairly adept at getting good quality 3D prints and laser-cutting balsa wood.
I just received my A350 and am struggling to get to the same level of results as my old machine. Obstacles at the moment are getting used the auto-bed leveling and what needs to be done to tune its accuracy, as well as getting good adhesion to the magnetic bed (I had been using blue tape and glue stick to good effect on first machine).
As with the first Snapmaker, I am blown away with the quality of the engineering, packaging, and manufacture of the product! Luban is not my favorite, sonI use Simplify 3D to slice and Luban for laser cutting.
My thanks to all on this forum for their help and trail-blazing efforts!
Hi all,
my name is Andreas and currently Iām waiting on my A350.
I already got a 3D Printer which is a slightly modded Anycubic i3 Mega / Mega-S, so Iām not a complete beginner at least on this part. Iāve always been interested in Lasers so first Iāve been really hyped when Anycubic announced that they are releasing a upgraded version of the i3 Mega with Laserdiode but not being able to upgrade my printer via an official upgrade-kit was quite a bummer.
When searching for alternatives I came across the Snapmaker. With my i3 Mega I had quite some lessons to learn (and am still learning) so first I was hoping for getting a machine which simply works out of the box with ordering a Snapmaker.
After spending quite some time on this forum Iāve come to the conclusion that this is very unlikely to happenā¦
But Iāve also seen that there is a great supportive community so I guess it will be fun anyway!
Hi! Very happy to own a Snapmaker Original, with the added Laser Cutting module. It took me about 30 minutes for initial setup, and am currently printing a test object, with the supplied PLA material, just to ensure this all works. Printing directly from my Mac laptop, OSX 10.15.7, using Snapmaker Luban version 3.12.2 (3.12.2.1114). I am sure I will have issues and questions in the future, but for now am very happy.

Lucan stoped working, no longer displaying the 3d print window on pc
Works fine on Mac
Hello fellow Snapmakers!
My name is John, Iām from New Jersey, USA and Iām a newbie to 3D printing.
Just got my Snapmaker 2.0 A350 delivered this week! I have played a bit with the 3D side of it, with only 1 failure so far, I have lots to read and figure out, so fun times ahead!
Well the wait is over I just finished building the SM-350 and itās in closure last night , it went together really nice and easy no problems at all . Now I getting ready to download the latest firmware .
hey all,
Iām Marco,
hobby fanatic,
i will use the Snapmaker 2.0 A350 to print model parts and useful things (I hope), circuit boards, engraving wood and leather.
Itās not my first 3d printer, I started with a Prusa.
I still have to try the CNC.
See you around and happy making
Received our A350, and set it up yesterday. Was unable to connect Luban via WiFi, and just saw it is not supported in theLinux version I am running. I also saw a hint about adding it to a group. Is there a Linux setup guide showing all configuration settings? So far, we love the system.
Is it reverse or upside down?
it is both

Depends on which hemisphere youāre in.

Hi, Iām Anchoright and my Snapmaker arrived last week. Iām still arranging a place for it before I unbox it. Iām going to build itās own little room in the attic. Previously I had a Creality that I converted to dual extrusion and made a plethora of my own creations, mostly useful tools and gadgets. Iām excited to see what can be done with the Snapmaker. Itās looking like becoming a whole different dimension of creation for me.
Hello, Iām Jim. Iām a second-career artist/ designer. Iāve owned a few small format cnc/ laser/ 3d print machines. The Snapmaker 350 immediately impressed me with the sturdiness of the parts and how exquisitely it was packaged. Getting up and running on the sample smartphone stand was pretty straightforward given that I kind of knew what to expect in terms of workflow. That said, the absence of a formal manual, especially after the very nice glossy quick start guide was a bit of a letdown. All the more reason for an active user forum. I look forward to knowing enough to be a net contributor. JS
Hi, Iām Mark and used my A350 for the 1st time today (just a test print) and everything went okay.
Iāll admit I am surprised by the volume of the PSU fan and the lack of soft shutdown.
Hello,
damo here. I live in Canberra. Ex IT bloke, retired. Totally new to this. Using a Snapmaker 350. Learning very fast based on total stuffups
