Help, Blackscreen at Startup

Hi everyone,

I really hope that you can help me. After assembling and connection all the cables I tried to start my Snapmaker A350T. The “S” is shown at the screen but nothing more happens. I just get a black screen. Any ideas what to do?

Best regards,
David

I would check all the cabling first, when it turned off.

I’ve had this happen on my 350T. Power off, Power on Once took 3 times to get the thing to turn on. Most times it only takes me one power on retry.
Not sure what the issue is but seems to lose its mind while starting up.

Hi,

thanks for your fast responses.

I checked all the cabling and I’am able to connect my Laptop via USB. All the commands are working and the machine is moving, but the display stays black expect for the S at startup.

I tried restarting several times, but it does not work for me.

Is this maybe a solution for me as well?

Check if the screen boots while you are pushing the connector deep into the controller.
Dismanteling a bit of the connectors rubber is quick and dirty, why not to try?

I am a user like you and no snapmaker staff.

Because of the appearing S on the start screen this seems a connector issue, like shown in the linked thread.

I already got an answer from the support and they suggest to update the firmware via USB-Stick. I tried it but I’m of course not able to start the update with the touchscreen. Is there any other possibility?

Well, that’s quite a misunderstanding on their side.
Unless there is a way to initiate firmware update during boot… But I never heard of this.
What did you say to support?

I discribed my problem as I did in this thread. I have to add here that I’am able to connect my Laptop with the Luban software and I can to control all the functions via g-code (never mind I already added that). I made a video for them as well.

That’s interesting,
Seems like you got a new machine, out of the box.
If they would ask you to trim the cable - that would be hilarious.

I wonder what would these g code commands output.
M504 - validate eeprom
M1005 - firmware information

You could also try factory reset
M502.

You can read about these here - https://snapmaker.github.io/Documentation/gcode

My machine is in fact not new. Its from December 22 and I’m quite disappointed that I can’t get it up and running. I already did a factory reset, but nothing happend. I will try the other two and send you the console feedback.

Here is a topic with the same issue. @xchrisd suggested to use a USB A male to USB C female adapter to connect the display to the other port. I ordered one of these adpaters, hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow and solves the issue till Snapmaker sends a replacement. [Screen turns on show S and turns off]

I never heard back on the suggested thread, maybe it doesnt work…
The knowledge of today is, that the touchscreen has a different pinout to normal usb connections so the chance is low that it will work… Sorry for that.

It looks normal,
Did you try the factory reset code?
It would be last resort, along with the support suggestion if any comes through.
Then get physical with the cord …

I tried a factory reset.
Support suggested to use a USB a male to USB c adapter to identify whether the controler or the screen is the problem. I ordered the connector they discribed to me, but I tried a USB c port without power and it seems to me that the plug does not really fit normal / deep into the port.

Hi, I had nearly the same problem. I had to cut of a little bit of the connectors plastic/ rubber. Then it worked perfect.

Also see my post: Touchscreen doesn't start

Hope that hepls.

All the Best

Hi,

thank you all for your help. My plug already seems to be longer than yours by delivery. The support told me to use an adapter like this with a normal AC plug.

In fact the screen is booting normally, but when I move the cable a lot the screen shut off again. The support will send me a new screen, but I personally think that there is a problem with the controller as well, because it never booted completely while beeing connected to the printer. It always shut off while booting in the second when the LEDs of the enclosure are turned on.

David

Hi,

since the display has not arrived yet I I read the gcode library to control the printer via Luban and I discovered the M2001. While booting the screen is turned off again after the S as I described here. After connecting to Luban I tried M2001 S1 and the screen is booting to the main menu now. Unfortunately it tells me that the machine is not connected. I tried to save the settings via gcode, but the screen is turned off again at the next startup and I have to manually activate the screen via Luban. Any guesses on that?

After reboot and using M2001 without parameters I get this feetback. The screen is just turned off by default. How can I fix that? My hope is that it will connect to the machine when booting directly.

Final update. I needed a new display and a new controller to get it working again. None of the old/new combination worked either. Just contact the support. They shipped me the needed spare parts very fast (month ago). Thanks for your suggestions
