Poor print quality on most extreme right surface of all prints

No matter what I print it appears that whatever the farthest right (max X) surface I print is terrible. If you look at this model you’re looking at the far right surface and yeah - its awful…

But the right side of another wall, same orientation but more to the left is fine.

This is typical but this happens for ANY print I’m running - no matter where on the bed I put it it seems.

I’m using the left extruder exclusively for this print and its an excellent example of the strangeness I’m seeing.

Smakmaker 2.0, dual extruder, firmware updated, new 0.4mm nozzle installed on extruder.

Because it works on the left hand side of the “U” shape I’m assuming its not something about the heating or fan, I’ve replaced the nozzle so its not that… any other ideas?

Hi adamarabian,

Please share pic with better view angle. I cannot See much there. What happens when you rotate the workpiece 180°? Did you ever tried to print on another Location on print sheet?

Try to do some new calibration. Maybe a manually?

It only allowed me to post one photo which was annoying.

Rotating it and moving it simply changes the surface where the bad printing occurs - its always on the far right, no matter the model.

I’ve done multiple recalibrations both before and after changing the nozzle and no luck.

Your part is separating from the print bed. Check your first layer and maybe lower your live z offset on the touchscreen.

Is this with the single, or dual extruder toolhead?

Dual extruder.

I’m not sure thats it - if I move it to another part of the bed I get exactly the same thing. If its a leveling issue shouldn’t it be localized?

I have a new theory - I’m wondering if I have too much friction in pulling the filament. When its on that far right side maybe thats when its the worst?

I have had an issue with friction that looked similar but if you are moving it around the plate I would think that would address that possibility. Mine came from the spool not rotating freely. Does yours rotate freely? Any chance you have a camera you could film what it’s doing? Or at least watch as it is printing and see what’s happening?
