I started having issues printing a couple weeks ago with prints having a bubbled surface (pillowing)! I researched posts here and found things about filament feed speed and temperature, and after fiddling around with those, I got better (but not good or fast) prints.
Then I thought I’d look at the nozzle - it was caked with melted filament and didn’t look too good. Luckily, I’d purchased some replacement nozzles a while back so I put on a new one and wow! what a difference!
In the photo, I printed a small test part using the default settings and you can see the problem with the old worn nozzle. Simply replacing the nozzle resulted it the part on the right which is so much better.
I thought I’d post this for the next person who sees this issue!

Why didn’t you just clean the nozzle? You should be cleaning the nozzle after, or before, every print. Just use the tweezers to remove any filament on the nozzle while it’s hot. When using sticky filaments like PETG, you’ll probably need to clean it while printing as well.
