What you think about the new products / upgrades today?

That is why i want a 50% off a Fx50 machine, instead of 50% the 3 parts which can be replaced with 50% off.

@bakkerl the 50% doesn’t apply to a machine though. @KLIM the Ax50T models don’t improve laser, the more powerful laser doesn’t come with it as it’s a (yet) unreleased addon that is available for preorder November 19, and as such the laser functionality is the same as the standard Ax50 machines since it comes with the standard 1.6W laser.

I know that it doesn’t apply to a machine… but if a rails upgrade is done, there will be a ton of wast materials which cannot be reused. And the rails are a large portion of the machine total costs.

It is not in line with “A small change can have a great positive impact on the people we care about, the planet we live on, and the species we love.”

They’d make decent linear actuators for windows and stuff /shrug. Maybe we can write a raspberry pi controller for them to plug into home automation systems

Why buy an A350T or even just the new parts when you can get an F350, with the new parts, and just use the CNC and Laser modes on it instead of the older one, technically giving you an A350T with the older one being the “F350” but with the old parts, and instead of having parts just laying around, you actually end up with 2 machines.

YES… that wil give 2 working machines.
One F350 with all the current parts of the A350, so that is makes a A350T.
And an ‘old’ A350 which only has a 3D print module.

And it would we handy sometimes to have 2 machines work at the same time… my available space would not allow to have 2 machines. But a fully functional ‘old’ A350 with only 3D print will not give any waste materials… enough schools or social youth clubs who are wanting a have 3D print machine donated to them.

I’d considered the same thing, but I really don’t think I’d go with an SM for either a new 3d printer or especially for CNC.

Have we seen any mention of whether or how long the old rails will still be available?
I really don’t see any upside to the new rails for me.

@sdj544 logic dictates they’re going to hold onto a stockpile of them to be able to warranty replace those that go bad for those that decide to not upgrade them since they’re not interchangeable.

When many do their upgrade, a lot of the old modules will come available as secondhand parts.
If you are worried that the ‘old’ will not available anymore soon, find anyone who want to sell there old parts to you.

At least this will give less waste materials in general.

Torque is not lost, it’s gained. But the drivers are 2A so I’m not sure how they came up with that calculation.

That’s a problem I have with Snapmaker: They’re always very nebulous about such statements. I wish they’d be more transparant and just give the hard facts, i.e specifications. It may well be that the old modules do not go up to 4A and the theoretical advantage of the louder drivers is not harvested. Fact is however, that the steeper lead reduces leverage, i.e. the 160 steps/mm (new) vs. 400 steps/mm (old) will reduce available force per mm by a factor 2.5 - I have difficulties to believe that they compnsate this fully be driving current. Assuming that they drive the TMC at full 2A, that would compare to 0.8 A on the old drivers (also assuming the same motor specs) - they certainly will not have had them limited there. So, unless someone can point me to a mistake in my train of thought, I’d infer that the new modules will have less torque…

that is what I think. There is no point in buying spare parts only when you can get a new printer with little more.

@Askbruzz yeah that’s the conclusion we’ve all seemed to come to, if the 50% off weren’t a thing, it would be a no brainer. With the 50% off, all 3 upgrades for A350 comes to $513.50, if it weren’t for that I believe everyone would’ve gone for the F350 hands down.

I was thinking about that just now and after the fan mod I reduced the minimum layer time from 8s to 3s on small parts so my fan mod actually speeds up more than 250%

Was just reading about your fan mod. Is that still applicable with the more recently updated print module?

I have a A250 that I have bought on a French website. I will not have the 50% discount, because I have not bought on Snapmaker website directly. It is totally unfair. Isn’t it a Snapmaker anyway?

Is the French website an authorized distributor? If it is you just need to contact Snapmaker and they will give you a coupon code for it.

However, if it isn’t an authorized distributor not only will you not get the coupon code but your warranty is also voided.

I have asked Snapmaker directly whether they plan to sell an all 8mm lead TMC2209 bundle. This is the answer I got:

There is not such an upgrade bundle yet.
Only the 20mm lead for the X and the Y.

Here’s a thought. If one already has an A350 (with or without upgraded parts), what happens if one wants to also buy an F350? Yes, it doesn’t COME with laser and CNC, but would those modules work on it? I think it would be cool to have two machines being able to run any 2 of the modules simultaneously with only incremental additional cost.

fan mod. Is that still applicable with the more recently updated print module?

The consensus appears to be ‘no’, the cooling fan on the new module moves sufficient air. I don’t have a new module though so relying on other people’s comments.
