Dear Snapmaker, wtf is this?
After waiting months for this smooth PEI Plate I get a slab of springsteel with 2 layers of poorly slapped on “PEI coating”?
From experience I can say this won’t last long, especially when for example printing PETG with 80°C on the heated bed… The quality of this is so much worse than all other smooth PEI plates I had so far…and those where a couple…
You can’t just slap some poorly sticking adhesive film on a steelplate and call it a smooth PEI plate.
I have no idea what to do with this, I don’t wanna keep it, hopefully I can return it without paying a lot for shipping.
@everyone that also ordered this: Does it look the same or did you get better quality?
Mine came the other day, guess I Ned to take a good look at it.
I had a smooth Bambu plate for my X1c & it was a sticker on a spring steel plate that you could but new PEI stickers for. I don’t think those are available anymore.
Snapmaker offered me a replacement, let’s see how the quality of the replacement will be.
Just got mine today, it has the same quality control issue too. The laminated PEI sheet is not flushed at the spring steel plate edge. So it will peel up fairly soon.
Got my replacement and on the new plate the adhesive films are much better aligned!
I still have my doubts about the adhesive strenght of the PEI coatings but maybe I’m wrong.
I only know the very thin PEI coatings that come with most plates from china where the coatings adhesive strength is really strong. On those, over long time usage, the PEI coating starts flaking off.
of course I would read this in the morning and receive both my plates in the afternoon.
And yeah, man I got the exact same quality concerns.
I’ve reached out to support and hopefully they hook me up with some replacements as well.
Those overhangs are on both sheets that I received, PEI Smooth and Textured Carbon Fiber.
Smooth PEI, sorry for all these single media posts, new users be discriminated against!! But I get its to protect against bots and spam.
