U1 Multi ACE Pro Integration, Stock Firmware, no Soldering

Right I bought this cable for £7, saved cutting the supplied one, I then put the colours like the photo below, so you know which to do yourself

Ok according to that diagram in the link , it says use the 4pin side to plug into the ace pro2 and cut off and put a usb connector on the 6 pin side to plug into the snapmaker , just need a verification, is this the correct way to proceed , plug the 4 pin side into the bottom port on the ace pro2, cut off the 6 pin side and connect a USB adapter to that side and plug that into the U1 , sorry for all the questions , but I’m old and don’t understand a lot of this tech stuff , please forgive me ,

The 6 pin on the rear of the Ace Pro 2 is the main port if only using 1, it also uses that to communicate to your pc/mac, so do as I have shown, the 4 pin end of the cable with the bigger part that has the chip in it

If you have this cable do as I have shown above using the 4 pin

百度网盘 请输入提取码 Hey friends, this is the U1 connection ACE assistant created by Chinese netizens. If you can download it via a VPN, I’m sharing it with everyone!

What does the software do?

Big shot 71, this is the “Xiaobai Toolbox” created by Maker Dad, one of the earliest domestic promoters of your firmware. It can scan Klipper hosts on the local network, quickly access the backend, and features one-click firmware upgrade for the ACR2PRO, along with some multi-color firmware upgrade capabilities!

All right, next multiACE can flash too.. directly on the U1.

What are these multi-color firmware upgrade capabilites?

Will this be integrated in the next update?

I might buy another AP2

Yes.. but i could only test with force update, flash same version over. But its using hakimios script (with an update, flash is only a few seconds now, instead 40minutes) so i don’t see any problems.. but still at your own risk of course  Coming today or tomorrow, other function is auto-dry (ace2 rh, ace1 can be slave dried by ace2 sensor) and an inbox target for slicer integrations.

Oh ok, I can still do it the same way I did it before, happy as I am at the mo with just the 2 Ace Pro’s

Yes, you can still use the old way.. but ACE2 has an IAP-Bootloader, not so much risk..

automatic drying and so on

Well, thats co-incidence.. where is that coming from?? So he made a fork also? Hint for another feature of a future version in the pic

This is what they call “great minds think alike”!

In the U1 group of Maker Dad here in China, some members reported that the efficiency of the ACE2 Pro is too low, seemingly related to the air valve switch. Dad plans to incorporate the air valve switching action into the ACE’s drying function to improve drying efficiency!

Thank you  (i my case there was a feature request for it on github that brought me to it again, but thought about it for longer, like many features..)

I thought they open automatically? I will check that for the coming release…

Hello,

I am currently looking into the multiACE project for the Snapmaker U1 and I have a question about the intended filament workflow.

From the videos and the discussion, it looks like all U1 toolheads are connected through ACE Pro units and that multiACE can handle in-print filament swaps.

I am trying to understand if a mixed setup is possible.

Example scenario:

U1 without ACE:

  • Toolhead 1: Black
  • Toolhead 2: Red
  • Toolhead 3: Green
  • Toolhead 4: Yellow

Then adding one ACE Pro:

ACE Pro:

  • Blue
  • White
  • Orange
  • Purple

Would it be possible to use the U1 with:

  • some filaments loaded directly on the machine
  • additional colors managed by ACE Pro

So that the total available colors would be:
4 native filaments + 4 ACE filaments = 8 colors

Or does multiACE require that all filaments used in the print are routed through ACE?

My understanding is that multiACE can perform load/unload and in-print swaps, so I am wondering if the ACE system acts as an additional filament pool that can be accessed by the toolheads, or if it completely replaces the normal filament inputs.

Another example:

A print needs:

  • Black
  • Red
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Blue

Could I keep Black/Red/Green/Yellow directly loaded and use ACE only when Blue is required?

Or would the complete set need to be inside ACE?

Thank you for the clarification!

You need to utilise 1 toolhead as the link for the Ace Pro, i.e. use 1 2 3 as normal on the U1, then 4 as the link to the Ace Pro giving you 4 colours, so all told you will have 7 colours.

I use 2 Ace Pro’s so have 8 colours because I use the Multi option, now they are swapping colours better it works near perfectly

The actual MultiAce controls loading and unloading of the selected toolhead, you cannot have all 4 loaded via the U1 because it won’t auto unload

Mine says MULTI as I have 2 Ace Pro’s connected, so in essence it is like having a X1C with 2 AMS’s but far faster, because it utilises the 4 main colours fast as normal on the U1 and only changes colours to the other 4 when needed

Hi,

I don’t know how you manage it—I’ve done everything, and I’m getting errors right from the first swap.

Changing the Y, cutting straight, the TPFE… nothing works.

I even had an issue with the USB hub card (replaced it with the support one), but it never worked properly.

^^

USB Hub?

The U1 doesn’t like anything more than 1 USB item plugged in a t once, I tried a 3 port hub before I went the MultiAce route and nothing would work until I unplugged 2 items just leaving 1 plugged in, also having to reboot the machine to get that 1 working, just a thought?

No, I’m talking about the USB card of the heads; I had a faulty connection that was causing disconnections, leading to print failures.
