Honestly, I am excited about this. I hope the price point is right for the average consumer ~$1000 - $1300 so itās comparable to the J1, Bamboo Labs with AMS, Qudi with box, etc. I have sold all my 3-in-1 printers at this point in favor of dedicated machines, and I was working on a Voron 2.4 with stealth-changer, but this could easily put that project on hold. I do have several questions:
What is the maximum hotend temperature? Iām not a multi-color guy, but I want to print high temperature filament with support more reliably, and this would be a game changer if it could reach 350C.
What is the hotend like? V6 nozzles? Whole hotend and nozzle combo like the J1 and bamboo? Can I put a diamondback nozzle on here and print ABS-GF10 for days without stopping. Actually, a collaboration with Microswiss for Flowtech or E3D with their Revo would be incredible for no-leak nozzle changes. High-flow nozzles from the beginning would be great too.
Is the hot end all metal this time?
Are the dive gears the same size as the ones in the Artisan?
Is there enough part cooling to sustain the ~500mm/s speeds when printing PLA?
Is the chamber heated? If so, is it active, or passive (bed heating).
From the video, it looks like 270mm^3 is that accurate?
What kind of bed probe does this have? Is it auto calibrating? Optical sensor, inductive sensor, load cell? It said eddy current sensor for alignment of the toolheads, and I assume thatās for the bed too, but I want to be sure.
Is this running Klipper or Marlin?
Does this use an onboard accelerometer for input shaping or is it like the 2.0 where you print the tower and select the best lines?
Does this have a built in Lidar sensor for linear advance calibration?
Does this use a filament buffer for loading through a long path or is the extruder pulling material right from the spool?
Does this include clog detection or just break/runnout detection?
How are the VFAs? The only thing keeping me from buying a Prusa CoreOne right now is the surface quality issues. Does this use 1.5mm pitch belts to combat this? 0.9 deg steppers?
How is maintenance on this machine? Belts needing to be tensioned often? Re calibrating the x/y/z offset on the toolheads?
I definitely want my next printer to be a tool and not a project. As cliche as it is to say, it needs to ājust workā. Iāll be keeping a close eye on the reveal, and I hope to keep a snapmaker machine around.
Edit:
Does this have a way to use filament dryers, or do the mounts on the side of the machine need to be used for proper function?
Does this mean the discontinuation of the J1? It looks like the Ray is out of stock on the US store, and not being restocked? Can we assume youāll sunset some projects to make room for this?
Is the enclosure all aluminum or steel? Are the doors acrylic (plastic) or glass?
Can I make use of different sized nozzles?
Does this support wipe to infil so I can avoid a wipe tower?
Looks really good!
Like @Wyphorn said, looks like itās 270x270x270 at least from what I can tell from the video posted. I took a screen shot where you can kind of read it on the print bed where it says āBuild Volumeā.
Iām hoping there is a way to enclose the filaments on the sides and cover the top.
I print in PETG and live in Florida so I need to make sure the filament is a dry as possible!
Wasnt there some XTool lettering on the rumor images? Is this a coop?
Do you really want to finance this with Kickstarter or why there are Kickstarter references?
Thank you for your interest. Please note that the earlier information was not officially announced. For the most accurate and up-to-date details, please refer to our official announcements.
Regarding your question about Kickstarter, yes, the U1 will be launching on Kickstarter.
Is there any chance that you use your new knowledge to get a really good printhead for 2.0/ Artisan?
Or do you stopped all Hardware developments on your āoldā machines? And no, i do not need any fance multicolor stuff, just a good single extruder.
Thank you for the information Sherry. I appreciate it, and I look forward to seeing more in the future. Have you sent out review units? Iād love to see some printers in the hands of experienced reviewers for this launch.
