Sneak preview of multiACE support in Snapmaker Orca

Hi! :waving_hand: Ever since the first glimpses of the Sidecar project, I’ve been looking forward to a full MMU implementation for the Snapmaker U1 — the kind of seamless multi-material experience Bambu Lab offers with their AMS units.

Now, thanks to decay71’s work (and many others), multiACE is in the works — and I’ve been building on top of it to bring proper ACE multi-material support to the U1 inside a Snapmaker Orca fork.

A sneak preview of what I’ve been working on:

  • Live ACE filament inventory, read straight from the printer
  • A smart sync dialog showing U1 toolheads and ACE slots together
  • Topology-aware colour mapping → ACE is connected to T4, so T4 is disabled. Instead ACE filaments (A1-S1 to A1-S4) can be selected
  • A layout that scales to a full setup of 4 ACE units and 16 spools

It’s an evenings-and-weekends passion project, with no promises on if or when it’ll be ready for everyone. I keep at it because the U1 is a genuinely open platform, and that openness is what lets enthusiasts experiment and build things that make it better for all of us.
