The Snapmaker Rotary Module FAQs

  • Will there be any sample projects to use as a starting point for designing our own ideas?
    • Yes, we offer the built-in sample model in Snapmaker Luban
  • Will the emergency button be sold separately?
    • Yes. A350 and A250 Rotary Module Bundle contain the Rotary module and the emergency button, while the Rotary Modules and Emergency Button can be sold separately.
  • Why the Rotary Module are so expensive?
    • Harmonic reducer is a relatively large share of the cost price of this module, which forced us to increase the pre-sale price of the product. The first batch of users who purchase this module will also receive a $50 discount. We will publish a document about the rotary module and its accessories.
  • Can Rotary Module support the 3D printing feature?
    • The 3D printing feature is not supported on the rotary module. We made a demo in the experience but it is not recommended to do so.
  • What percentage of company engineering resources has gone into creating this rotary module?
    • As for this question, it is hard to tell the exact percentage of engineering resources. I have to say that we have invested a lot of resources into the rotary module. 4 outstanding engineers, 1 product manager and our supply chain have done their best. The dual-extruder module and the high-power laser module are being tested now. We have a plan to release them in 2021.
  • How about the processing time of the Rotary Module?
    • Time for the lion is 5.5 hours or so, and the size of the Epoxy Tooling Board cylinder is 60mm (length) x 35mm(radius)
  • Where can we find the proper files for the Rotary module?
    • You can use Snapmaker Luban to generate the proper file for the Rotary Module.

  • Generate a Laser file for the rotary module. (SVG, DXF, and IMG are supported)
    • Generate CNC file for the rotary module. (STL, SVG, DXF, IMG are supported)
  • Is it possible to build models for rotary CNC through 3D scanners?
    • STL file is supported by the Rotary Module. You can use the STL file the generate the G-code file.
  • 4-axis feature guide for Snapmaker Luban.
    • It is free to download and easy to use.
    • The 4 axis feature has been developed and fully tested.
    • You can use the 4th axis feature in Laser mode and CNC mode. The diameter and length of the material you choose can be set in the software and you can visually see the shape of the unfolding material.
    • You switch the job mode in Snapmaker Luban.
    • STL file is also supported in CNC mode.

  • What software can generate the model for the Rotary module?
  • Is the STL file for 3D printing compatible with the Rotary module?
    • Yes, the STL file is supported and Snapmaker Luban can process it.
  • Can the square and rectangular materials be used with the Rotary module?
    • Yes. After consulting our software developer who designed the rotary module feature in Snapmaker Luban, he said the rotary module can work with square and rectangular materials.
    • The machine will default the material you choose as a cylinder and then carve it according to the Gcode file. You need to ensure that the volume of the model to be carved is smaller than the material used.

  • What is the recommended bit for the Rotary module?
    • A Straight Groove V-bit (3.175 diameters × 20 side angle × 0.3 flat diameter × 50 total length ) will be contained in the rotary module package. We will offer a model in Snapmaker Luban’s gallery, and the quick start guide(QSG) and the tutorials will show you how to use that CNC bit.
