The long-awaited quick swap kit for Snapmaker 2.0 250/350 machines

All makes sense now :grinning:
Just got to figure out how to keep the supporting linear rails in place. I have an idea, just need to get the upgrade here to measure.

This is good news, how about doing the same for the different heads??

It will also bei for the different hads, they sayed in the text.

Super, j’ia hĆ¢te!

If I remember correctly, I could just ā€˜clip’ the sbr16 rails on. Worst case I use my printed bed change tools and just use the head change parts.

I would definitely like to see what setup you are referring to, because for mine and most others I have seen, the frame has to be removed either straight up and down, or forward/back. Side-to-side (like the quick-swap requires) would not work.

Thankyou so much! Im so glad you went ahead with producing this.

Do you have any photos or video of the tool change parts?

Im cautiously excited … it will probably be overkilled with price as always but there seems to be some place for optimisim this time … hopefully waranted

Its always nice to see new upgrades for my ā€œoldā€ machine. Keep it going :+1:

PS: If its also for toolheads (as text indicates) it would have been nice to have atleast one in the video

Lets wait and see. June has started already.

I’d vote for a bonus system for good customers, of course…

I have, unfortunately, learned my lesson with the dual extruder and will wait until there are some reviews of the product before I buy it…especially knowing that the price will most likely be outrageous

Personally I have two machines, and I know the price will not be worth it. If their other prices are any indication. They need to realize, it should have been a launch feature and can’t charge much for it. It’s literally some extruded pieces with light machining. I can’t see many people spending more than maybe $30-50 just to save literally 5 or so minutes.

People that want it will buy it. Personally I wouldn’t buy it no matter how cheap it is. I don’t find the swap over that much of an issue, takes me <2 minutes.

I don’t hesitate to spend money on things related to productivity. Recently, I’ve purchased a LightBurn license, an air assist kit for laser, and a steel bed sheet for 3D printing. Previously, I was really eager for quick swaps. However, since the base of my work can be securely fixed with clips and the printing head is held by only four bolts, the impact of quick swaps on the ease of work has diminished. If they sold separate swap parts for the head, I would be interested in purchasing them.

Someone mentioned toolheads and that was where my mind went immediately. Is this for beds only or does it incorporate quick change toolheads as well?

It looks like it includes the toolheads as well. If you look at how it’s designed, the lever mechanism is attached to the linear rails. In the parts shown in the box, there’s two different ones with levers.

The large one, which goes on the base, and a small one, with matching plates. I assume these are for the toolheads, as the very first video actually has a couple frames that shows it.

Look at the very top and you can see the catch mechanism behind the printing head.

This leads me to another issue, however. Looking at the total number of parts and what they are in the box, it can be assumed this setup is to quick swap just two operations.

Taking this image at face value as the ā€œfull kitā€ and how they show off the mounting mechanism. It requires a full bed skeleton under each workbed. It shows two parts with levers, which we’ll assume are the toolhead and bed quick releases. Then two small plates, which would be for only two heads, and two different quick release slides for the bed (CNC and 3D print assumingly, as those were the two shown) and only a single extra bed plate. Including the one already on the machine, also just two. Will users have to buy multiple to get a ā€œfull setā€ for all three modes?

I’m thinking one of the sliders would directly accept the laser bed.

Thank you.

I love how it says ā€œworks with enclosureā€.
I assembled my enclosure with the trifold door on the right for access to the USB and controller.
All the demos show the beds coming off to the left.
Umm, there is a solid wall there on my enclosure.
So skeptical about any of their claims.
Lets see the all three bed and tool changes, with and without the enclosure.
A parts list breakdown would be a good place to start.

As you can see in the videos you can switch the bed without open the left door. So there should no problem that you mounted it other way around.

I am really looking forward to this kit. For me, the bed swap is far less an issue than swapping the tool head. Swapping the bed is just tedious because of all the screws that need to be taken out and put in. But because of where my machine is located, I can’t open the side door of the enclosure, so getting to the screws on the back of the toolhead mount is really, really hard and fiddly. Could you post a video of how the toolhead quick change will work?
