Snapmaker 2 not homing + noise from y-axis

Hi everyone.

I’ve been using my a350 for a number of years. Yesterday when it tried to go find the home position it started to hit the end stop on the y-axis and the motor keeps running as if it thinks it hasn’t stopped. It will run for 20 seconds or so and then stop with a corrected home position.

It works OK after that but clearly this isn’t good.

Anyone had this before and know of a fix?

Took a video but apprently can’t upload it.

Thanks!

Since the Y-axis has two linear modules, i.e. two end switches, I’d daresay that its not a broken end switch. So I’d check all cables and connections of the y-axis, starting from the controler. Perhaps the plug has just shaken loose?
Of course, in the end I’d control the end switches.

Yes that was my thinking too. Stripping both linear modules to have a look sounds like a Sunday job to me!

Hopefully I don’t need to spend £200 on new modules (even in bf sale)

The connection cables are not expensive in case one is broken, and replacing a broken end switch does not require a degree in engineering, so I suppose if you’re willing to tinker a bit, youl not need to pay much.

Keep in mind you may have two faulty end switches.

Maybe checking the endstop state would help, enter M119 in the terminal.

So I stripped the machine down today, cleaned everything and buzzed out all of the limit switches (which were all fine).

Put it all back together to try the diagnostic commands and everything works perfectly.

Guessing there must have been some debris somewhere that I couldn’t see (been doing a lot of fine laser cutting recently) but thanks everyone for your suggestions.
