Hello, since the newest update yesterday, extruder number 3 says that residual filament is in it. But I can see that it is not, and the light on the side of the extruder is also off, indicating no inserted filament. When I insert it, the light goes on like normal.
When I use filament unload, he does his steps as usual but does not reset it in the UI. He still thinks that there is filament inserted.
So when I try to load, he says there is still filament in there.
When I try to insert filament, he doesn’t grab it, instead he blinks red and says I cannot do this because there is residual filament in there.
I removed the two screws from the feeder unit of extruder 3 and 4, there is nothing in there at all, no dust or filament residue.
Is this a known issue, if so, what can I do to resolve it?
Have you looked into the filament runout sensor? I had the same issue before. Even though I can see the path is clear when I shine a light through the top, but when I take out the runout sensor, a tiny piece of filament fell out (probably due to me pulling out the filament too early during unloading.)
Not sure which screws you removed during your inspection, but you can follow U1 filament runout sensor replacement guide to check.
I’ll be damned, you were right. Even though I attacked it with flashlights, dusters, and tried everything to be 100% sure that there was nothing in there, there was a tiny tiny piece of filament somehow stuck exactly at the position of the runout sensor. Once I took it apart, I could take that out, it is now working as usual.
The little box on the side is the filament feeder. The extruder is in the tool head itself. Take the PTFE tube loose from the extruder & push filament trough it. If it’s not blocked there then the blockage is in the extruder inside the tool head housing.
