Printing speed not the same

Hi ,

I have a ‘problem’, when printing something with straight lines like a box the printing speed is like I want it to be 150 mm/s and the printing time given by the slicer is ±correct but when I print something that is more advance/ more detailed like a miniature for instance it does not go so fast it keeps going on 15mm/s witch of course makes printing time add up and it takes longer then my slicer tells me.

Example: https://www.printables.com/model/342049-gnome-supportless this when made 150% and sliced gives me a printing time of 2hours and i know this will eventually take 3time more the time 6 to 8 hours to print.

Is this a slicing problem or is it something the printer is holding back to?

(slicing software used is cura)

As there are only very short distances here, the printer cannot build up the speed. It has to slow down again before it can accelerate properly.

Possible but not the main reason I think. When I use my other printer (delta printer FL-sun Super racer) it does not hold back and keeps printing at same speeds–> speed I want.

the super racer is a delta printer capable of much faster acceleration which allows it to maintain speeds the way you want. the Snapmaker J1 can only accelerate at 10,000 mm/s^2. You can try to increase the accelerations in the speed settings of your slicer.

It has been a while but I finally found out what the ‘problem’ is.

In ‘Cura’ there is a setting called: ‘minimum layer time’ and ‘minimum speed’.

Layer time is standard on 5sec en speed 10mm/s.

I’ve noticed that when doing the calibration : ‘vibration compensation’ (ia input schape, i think) the speeds where more than the printing speeds that I have, even when using the same model (draw this model to be able to print it)
When I printed this model my print slowed down to 43mm/s… while when doing the calibration this speeds was way more.

I started searching and the above setting caused the delay/ slower speeds.
Started testing and adjusted the minimum speed to 125 → now the print was flying and at the speeds I wanted…
