What am I doing wrong? I keep getting this in the preview and don’t want it in the final project.
What’s the source image? To me, those look like faint compression artifacts. You might have some very very faint lines in the image. If that’s the case, photoshop or Gimp should let you remove them, and save in a non compressed format so they don’t come back.
Can you upload the original?

You can see the grey shimmering around the edges.
The software thinks it’s part of the image.
It will need a clean up.
Or if the source is clean then try to make a file in a different format.
the image is very low resolution and has lots of artifacts, if you run it through a jpg to svg converter it should clean it up. I have had luck with this converter in the past JPG to SVG — Raster to Vector — Convertio
