LAN Mode and Snapmaker App iOS

Hello.

I have my first 3D printer, the U1, and I am thrilled at how easy 3D printing can be for beginners.

Now for the challenge:

I would like to operate the printer in LAN mode, but then I cannot connect the Snapmaker app (iOS) — although I can connect via PC. (A static IP is assigned, and remote access via the web interface is also possible, but that is probably not very interesting in this case.)

The app simply cannot find any printer nearby, and no QR code is generated as it is for cloud connection.

I expect a more stable connection to the printer through LAN mode — mainly via the app — please correct me if I am looking in the wrong direction.

Is this a bug or a feature? Am I doing something wrong, or is the smartphone app dead when switching to LAN mode?

Thank you in advance.

I’ve been using cloud connection for a while now. Currently, it feels almost the same as LAN mode, except for occasionally needing to reconnect the device. The original login logic in Orca software wasn’t very user-friendly (requiring users to re-login every 1-2 days, causing easy disconnections). The software team is aware of this bug and will optimize it in the upcoming version. I’m happy to inform you that the official software team started hiring after the Chinese Spring Festival holiday, so the next optimized version should come out soon.

Additionally, APP-related features will be updated in the next version (around early April), including various interactive messages with the printer.

If you encounter difficulties during the initial use, you can directly consult the after-sales staff—it’s also very convenient.

You can submit a ticket at the same time in case the technical staff or fellow users in the forum don’t respond promptly.

I have been using LAN mode & using the iOS app since day one. It doesn’t give a lot of information but does have the camera feed so I can check to see that all is okay. Don’t remember how I got it connected & currently can’t check but will & get back to you.

Hello.

I have to log in again every time I start SnOrca on Linux :zipper_mouth_face: ….. but that’s just a side note.

I expect more stable/faster access to the printer without the cloud. With a cloud connection, I always get “network not stable” or something similar.

I’ve only just received mine, set it up yesterday. When enabling LAN mode, there’s a message specifically mentioning (afair) account features are being disabled, which I reads as anything related to cloud features.

Oh!! You’re on Linux. Let me check if the Linux slicer version is on the same update schedule as other systems.

Disabled LAN mode, and can confirm that you’re even logged out of your account when enabling LAN mode, and have to login again when disabling LAN mode.

I wish Snorca could simply connect to the local address rather than over the cloud, even when LAN mode is enabled. Even better, make Camera integration work in Fluidd.

This in turn works for me: LAN mode active = printer connected but not logged in to the app…. But that’s fine for me, because constantly logging into SnOrca in cloud mode was annoying. I use Linux.

I bought a TP-Link Tapo C100 WLAN camera for less than Euro 20. I did place it on one edge of the printers frame . IOS app available or stream via VLC. No probs anymore. LAN mode active, btw.

According to support, it is due to the very new iOS version 26.3.1 on the iPhone—which is strange in itself, since it works fine on my iPad with the same iOS version.

It is supposed to be fixed, so just wait.
