Exhaust fan not turning

I have an A350 2.0 and have had the enclosure for a while, but only now that we’ve been doing laser cutting (with the 10W laser) did I feel that I needed to finish the enclosure (put the top cover on) and attach the exhaust.

Problem is, the fan isn’t turning, so all the smoke remains inside the enclosure. Did I miss something that needed activation? I think I connected everything, and the LED lighting works, so the Enclosure Converter seems to be getting power.

Any idea? Thanks.

From the Department of the Bleeding Obvious: Did you turn the fan on? You don’t mention that above.

If you did, and it won’t turn, the first thing to do is reseat the connections, just in case.

Thanks. Not all that bleeding obvious to me, so thanks for asking.

How do I turn it on?

In the enclosure menu there should be a option for turning the fan on/off.

Thanks. Got it. And it notified me that there’s a firmware update for the enclosure module, which I probably should install.

Yes, you would think that the laser head with an enclosure would default to ‘fan on’ automatically. Nope, not smart enough, you have to remember to do it manually. And still, I keep forgetting most of the time. Oh well.

I remember seeing somewhere on the forum an M code to turn on the fan… maybe there’s a way to put that in the initialisation of your laser job so that it auto starts. (Not tried the laser side of things myself yet so not entirely sure)
