Hello all, today I made my first attempt to use the upgraded CNC with the Rotary module. After some time I had to pause the job to clear some sawdust. When the job resumed, it plunged down much further into the work piece than it had been cutting (like 10mm deeper than the cut it was working on). Eventually, the piece broke where it had resumed. I tried it again, and the same thing happened. Does it not resume from the last place it was? Why would it plunge so deep?
Pausing any kind of job on the Snapmaker is recipes for disaster in my experience. I either keep a compressor to blow the debris away or a vacuum to suck it up while the job is running.
Man, it would be nice to iron that out. So you either donāt have the enclosure or you turn off the door safety?
I tune the door sensor off. Usually run with the door open and lean along the way. Iām mainly concerned about the linear motors getting dirty. Sure theyāre sealed, but some oil residue on the cover attracts sawdust. Plus I donāt want debris getting under the bracing rollers.
There are a few printed vacuum attachments for the CNC module. Never tried one myself.
Quite astounding really; thereās a bug that means Pause and Resume are unreliable and can result in trashing of ones work piece. So one work-around is to disable a safety feature and leave the enclosure door open to enable manual cleaning whilst running, but in doing so leaves the enclosure open for dust and noise to leave the enclosure, which kind of negates the purpose of having the enclosure in the first place.
No it doesnāt. It just means you can open the door AS NEEDED to clean the work area as the job is proceeding. You donāt leave it open for the entirety of the job.
It was you who said:
When Iām attending it, and depending on material. But regardless, I always disable door sensor in CNC. Doesnāt really require it, unless you have prying little fingers around the house.
But I do think the emergency stop button is a must have for the CNC (not so much the other modules).
For me Pause and resume works on the last firmware without any problems.
Active enclosure door sensor does work fine too to get it to pause.
Bracing kit and quick swap kit is enabled.
Itās hit or miss, 75% of the time my resume button is disabled after pausing. And have to reboot the machine.
Interesting, for me it works till day two update (where the tool goes deep into the build plate before, lol)
Ever did a M502 + M500 to reset the machine?

Site not found, may share the solution a other way?
Hey there,
**I can see that you are having trouble with your CNCās pause and resume function. So, what you can do this try the below mentioned steps and let me know if it helps: **
1. Check pause settings on your CNC.
2. Verify Z-axis calibration.
3. Review toolpath and G-code for errors.
4. Ensure machine and module compatibility.
I wouldnāt bother replying to āNancyā, itās just AI.
Might as well add 5. Disassemble and rebuild machine.
Sorry about previous post. Assuming the issue is being able to periodically vacuum out material from time to time then I found this solution. I already had the shopvac and dust collector. Iāve little experience with CNC although lots with Laser and 3DP. However I found cleanup tedious and annoying. Iāve moved the video and info over to youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqHyKRfXUqY
This is what I was carving.
Thanks,
Fred
