Looking to laser engrave an image over three parts. The laser will spend some time over the bed (see attached image) is this an issue?
Yes, but.
It will strip the anodizing from the bed, as with engraving (especially with the 10w laser).
When it’s doing that surface roughness of metal will throw all sorts of specular reflections all over the place, you’ll see this as flashes on your enclosure walls (unlike when you engrave say plywood where you only see the burning spot) so be sure to USE the enclosure, and goggles. (In this sense I’m answering “safety” for you not for the equipment.)
If you think about it though, to cut thru things, there’s no way to avoid the laser beam hitting the bed. It’s going to happen. Don’t sweat it. I have used mine with the enclosure door open (long part protruded out of that side while I was cutting on other end for this door project) and of course smoke was also an issue, so I had a fan blowing it back ‘into’ the enclouse for the rear hose and filter to try and chew thru.
