Is there something I am doing wrong?
I am following the instructions in the booklet, I’ve done the calibration twice, including auto calibration of the camera with the laser burning a square but I still cannot get Camera Capture to show in Luban as per page 69 of the booklet.
Only thing I am doing differently is PC connected via USB to the SM2 as it won’t detect my wifi.
Luban is ‘connected’.
ok, so got the wifi detection working, which was channel related …odd.
Anyway, get Camera Capture showing now.
I guess that is a bug?? only shows via wifi and not cable connection
No thats not nice but no bug Camera connects over wifi.
why on earth would it not work over direct USB cable?! thats bizarre
The processor in the main controller just isn’t powerful enough to handle image data, and is bandwidth limited on the comms channel, so it’s handled by the Android tablet touchscreen via Bluetooth to the camera. USB connects to the main controller direcftly, wifi connects to the touchscreen. As such, it was a design decision, camera only works on wifi.
Righto! It would be nice to state the limitation so people aren’t even trying to view the camera via USB.
Too late now design wise I guess, but If the Android can handle the data, why not feed the data back to the USB and bypass the main controller, just as if you had plugged the USB straight into the Android (like you would on a phone to pull data off). Or heck, make available a direct Bluetooth connection to PC/Luban from the camera? (most laptops and tablets pick up bluetooth)
A luban upgrade would be possible to deal with that?
It definitely could’ve been done that way. And in fact, I’m pretty sure a big enough firmware change could implement that now. Would require coordinated development in the touchscreen, main controller, and Luban. The serial connection over the USB cable is 115kbaud, which would be a bit slow for that, but it’s definitely possible.
