Boy, this is turning into a contestā¦
Looks awesome⦠I do not come at all with the printing behindā¦
Yes, it does indeed Letās see if someone will do a scientific comparison of all these variants someday.
Here is my 5015 Motorcover and Airduct for the J1 - itās my first Version and under develeopment
Havenāt tried it yet but just printed and installed rwideās dual fan design. Just have to splice and plug in fans. It looks like it will cool really well. The only downside is the fan intake not being symmetrical. I might add a little fan grill to partial mask it. For now Iām just going to black out the sticker.
Looks nice. I hope it performs well!
Let me know if you need any step files!
I mounted Rwides fan ducts and printed an overhang test to compare the stock fan duct to his design black Rwides /Wihte stock.
Interesting! I cant reallly tell from the images but black seems a little better? Is that a layershift that I see on the white part?
What is your conclusion?
There was no layershift only to little cooling.
I did another test:
Black Rwide fan / White Stock
Rwide 50% fan speed
Stock 100% fan speed
Definitely better overhangs on black.
Oh I see. Very nice!
Thanks for posting!
Have you tested it meanwhile? Iām on the fence between this and the one from @Mechanikus
My J1 is collecting dust atm. Waiting for a new x-rail from Snapmaker, so I still havenāt tested the new 2-way duct. @Execodorās image comparison with the stock cooling setup looks promising thoughā¦
In theory, my 2-way design does have the potential to have an advantage over @Mechanikus design on certain geometries, but it is still very possible that mechanikus design in the end turns out to be better. I suppose it depends on how well designed my 2-way version isā¦
Thanks, but I cannot take full credit for the fan nozzle - I only fine-tuned and optimised the design from āMauro3D_MIā.
My stomach feeling would be that the last design of Rwide might be better in some cases since it cools from two sides. A negative side is the longer distance to the nozzle. I guess only a lot of tests would tell which nozzle is better for which design
But I will stick with my own ones since I want to be able to easily switch hotends and as far as I can see from the pictures that might be an obstacle with all the other designs.
Thatās a valid point. I too have additional hotends that Iād like to keep switchable easily.
If that is your priority then the mechanikus version might be the safer choice⦠Perhaps @Execodor or @Plasticrap3d can answer if a duct is in the way when pulling out the hotend?
Which version of Rwideās design are you using?
Itās this one: Covers and fanducts for Snapmaker J1 by Rwide - Thingiverse
Have you modified the heatbreak on all of your additional hot ends?
Just realized, that you have 2 distinct fan mods one for stock and a shortened one for the heatbreak mod. I assume if I start to change the heatbreak on one pair, I have to do it on all additional hotend pairs as well. Expensive journey.
