Face the overhang toward the fan side, which should be left. It’s a cooling deficiency artifact. I’ve noted a problem with a newer print module not having enough cooling myself. My older machine has absolutely no problems with cooling, yet the new one can’t even print a benchy, it’s odd.
Thank you thats helpfull ill increase my fan speed as i believe i have the overhang on the left already
When printing PLA, after the initial layer, you should always have the fan at max.
I have two single-extruder printheads and they each had a different brand fan in them; the newer toolhead had a fan that is significantly weaker than the old one. Looks like SM switched suppliers at some point and decided on an inferior component. There was a noticeable difference, and it’s even noted in the listed specs for the fans when I looked it up.
I had that feeling myself, and it’s unsurprising. Disappointing, but not surprising.
EDIT: I have four of them… I should pop them all apart and see which ones have which. Considering my latest machine, Baba can print a benchy just fine, I think I might be in luck and have 3 good ones.
I will note, the one with the crap fan, this shroud helped a LOT
Easy to install printable upgrade. Plopping one in one with a better fan should be fantastic.
Before upgrade; absolutely horrible melty benchy. I never even completed one 'cause they kept coming out this bad.
And fan duct.

Just some curling on the extreme overhang afterwards. Good enough because this one is mostly functional prints, but still sad that Snapmaker cheaped out on the fan and user upgrades are required just to get ‘usable’, I won’t say decent, prints.
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if that was has the bad fan. I remember that for a recent while there was also a firmware bug that caused the fan to not run at all; they did fix that several iterations ago. That’s a pretty good duct design. The 4010 or 5015 fan upgrade mods are definitely worth every penny; can easily pump out a Benchy in 30min with near perfect quality.
