I just installed my brand new 10w laser for the first time on my A350 w/enclosure. I upgraded to the lastest firmware prior to installing it and the laser bed. I had never had the machine in any other configuration than 3d filament printer prior to this. I powered up the machine, acknowledged the safety warning and now I’m stuck on the Toolhead Focus Calibration screen; no matter how many times I tap the blue Start button, it does nothing.
Have you plugged the connector into the laser the right way around !
The plug is plugged in the exact opposite way to the 1.6W laser !?
I’m having this same issue. I confirmed that all of the connections are plugged in correctly. I updated firmware before attaching the laser module. Is a second update of the firmware on the module itself required? If so, how would I do that if I cannot get past the calibration? If I choose to go back, it just takes me to the safety notice and I have no option but to move forward with the calibration, where I get stuck.
So I have the 10W laser connected to my A350T with enclosure and no update to the laser module needed to be done.
Therefore I assume that the latest firmware is on it.
Here is a picture of my machine and the firmware version:
Is your machine in “Home” position or where is it located?
If you press the Start button, the machine should then remain in this position or is it already in this position?
Can you then lower the Z-axis so that you can move onto the aluminum bed and insert the calibration card between them as shown in the picture.
Or does the Snapmaker really do nothing at all, no movement possible at all?
Snapmaker support provided me this:
In that case, please try to test the 1.6w laser module and see if the camera sign is green.
If not, please try to swap the tool head cable with the Y or the Z-axis converter one.
See if that helps.
(Make sure you have powered off the machine when you change the cable.)
I followed their instructions and my 1.6w laser camera was orange, no matter which cable I used.
This was the first time I’ve ever had my machine in any configuration other than 3d printer.
I’m waiting on a follow up response from Snapmaker support.

Sounds like raydog01 and I are both in the same situation; we power on our machine and acknowledge the safety message, which takes us to the “Toolhead Focus Calibration” screen, when we push the blue Start button, the button appears to blink but the machine does nothing
@tschwick
Ok, if the machine does nothing at all, then you have to contact the support.
Then I don’t know what to do.
If the camera icon remains yellow, there is a problem with the camera of the laser module, also here only the support can help, you have already contacted them.
Another hint, the camera works via WLAN, so if your WLAN is not working properly, this can also lead to the camera remains yellow!
Slight correction, the camera connects via Bluetooth which can be important with troubleshooting. Otherwise I completely agree.
The 1.6W can be used even if the camera doesn’t connect, you just need to do manual calibration, but I wonder if the 10W can’t be used at all without connecting? (Just a pretty uneducated guess)
The only other thing I can think to try is seeing if it works without the enclosure plugged in. If it does then there might be an issue with the door detection on the enclosure. Either way it would probably be best to contact support for more help.
Exactly the same problem here. Swapped out the 10w for the original 1.6. Now that doesn’t work either. Machine powers up but does not respond to manual controls and the head does not move, not even to “home.”
EDIT: I got the cable positions mixed up on the dock. Fixed!
You sound like you may have a slightly different issue. I would recommend making a new thread with a more thorough explanation of what’s happening (including firmware version) and pictures/videos of the issue (such as pressing home and nothing happening)
according to Snapmaker support; the toolhead port on my controller is defective
they provided me a test firmware that reroutes toolhead control to the add on1 port of the controller, and then conduct some tests with 3d head, 1.6w laser head, and CNC head; all tests passed which indicated to them my toolhead port is bad
now waiting to find out how to get a new controller
Just be careful the plug is all the way home . The black plugs can click in, giving the impression they are plugged in . But another couple of mm will let the smaller pins in the plug mate (being the data connection ) . Can you pull down the reference image ? That’s another indication you have a data connection to the camera . The amber indicator is another sign the data pins have not yet mated .
I’m having the same problem, sent a message to snapmaker support earlier today.
Did the machine work ok before you installed the 10w module? I had used all three configurations and had no problem. But once I plugged in the 10w module if downloaded so controller updates and now the 1.6w laser has the orange dot on the camera and doesn’t work.
I wouldn’t say the controller is defective, it was working fine until now. It became defective after installing the 10w laser module
Same here. In the middle of support process with SM. Similarly to others, my 3D print and 1.6w laser modules worked fine right up to the point I updated the firmware and plugged in the 10w laser.
I know this is an older thread. I’ve had this issue since november 2022 & was informed by Snapmaker mid Feb 2023 that it was my controller via support responses that I generally receive on Sunday. So now I am curious how long will it take to get the controller?
I have the same problem. I stuck on the toolhead focus calibration screen. Is there a solution now? I have also installed the latest firmware.
I contact the support and i got a firmware to install. The problem was solved after that the update.
I have the exact same problem (as of 8/24) where with the 10w laser and after the safety screen, hitting the start button doesn’t do anything. I have updated the firmware to the newest version with hopes of fixing the problem, but no changes.
If your firmware update was finished successfully (shown in a popup), I would suggest to interchange to another toolhead and reset the machine settings with M502 in the terminal, you have to save this with M500 after.
After this change back to the laser module.
Hope this helps.
