Wetkzeugkopf1 and its holder welded

I haven’t monitored the recent printing for quite some time. The filament did not adhere properly and clumped irreparably onto the nozzle and its holder.

The filament feeder and the white holder are permanently fused together by a large blob of ASA filament. In my view, there is no way to separate the two. The hot filament blob even melted the white plastic casing of the tool holder.

Is there a way to remove the connected parts from the printer without causing damage to the device (for installing replacement parts), or do I need to buy a new U1?

Please reply.

(Edit: photos were added subsequently)

try heating the nozzle to 250c if the u1 still sees it ok and then gently trying to remove as much of the blob as you can, there are very thin wires, you may end up needing to replace the sensor and thermistor, possibly the nozzle as well, the white cover parts are available cheaper as well if the are too badly deformed now

You could open a ticket anytime if you are unsure how to proceed.

@ColdCoffee described the process very well.
Here is the U1 blob Wiki thread:

Clogged nozzle is

removed, the new one has just been ordered. I think I can throw away the old one.

Thanks for your help.

Depending on how much use has gone through the nozzle now it’s out it should be saveable? the nozzle socks, thermistors & ceramic heater are all available cheaply?

To be precise, it’s not actually a clog but rather a print that detached from the bed during printing and got stuck to the hotend. From that point on, all freshly extruded filament accumulates on the hotend, causing this blob.

Good to know for future reference :+1:t3: in most of these cases the cause is actually bad bed adhesion.

(Sorry I see you already made this conclusion in your post, I just read the last post and looked at the pictures )

Use a lot of heat and pliers and you will be able to save it. Or is anything broken when disassembling?
