It’s always possible to purchase an M4 tap and an M6 die. Print the threads a bit large and then cut them to size with a metal tool.
Just stumbled upon this as I had the same problem. It is possible to get these directly from Snapmaker. Just send an email to their support, they will name the price and you simply paypal them the money. Then they will ship the inserts to you. Price for me was $1 per insert and $16 for shipping. It’s not exactly cost-effective but if you want the real metal thing, this is how to do it.
