Hi
New to the J1S but find I’m getting prints with lots of stringy webs over them. Any suggestions?
What filament? For almost all filaments, the main culprit causing stringing is a too-high extrusion temperature. The other common cause is retraction that’s too little or too slow. PLA doesn’t generally need much retraction to avoid stringing with an optimized temperature but filaments like PETG are very picky about the temperature/retraction balance to avoid excess stringing.
As TheBum already wrote, a too high printing temperature promotes stringing.
Snapmaker has also set the retraction in the Luban software to be too low by default to hide the design problem with the extruder, which causes the extruder to become clogged during printing if the retraction is large and frequent.
So try to lower the print temperature, set the retraction to about 1mm with 35mm/s and the X/Y movement of the print head without extrusion to >250mm/s.

Thanks. I’ll try it out
Dry it out with 50c for 10h.
If there are no issues with the nozzle, you can adjust the retraction settings. PLA is suitable for retraction distances between 0.5 and 1.0 millimeters, and the retraction speed can be set between 40 and 60 millimeters per second
