Snapmaker 2.0 A350 Modifications

Here is my list of modifications for the Snapmaker 2.0 A350 to make it a virtually flawless machine and significantly increase it’s reliability. Most are related to 3D printing, but many serve multi-purpose across the 3 different machine functions. I originally posted this on the Facebook group, and the admins there requested that I also post it to the forum so that it is visible to those who may not have Facebook. Photos of each mod are at the end of the list and are in the same order as the list. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Big thanks to all of the creators who originally designed these; they have made a HUGE difference in the quality-of-life of the machine and in the quality of its project outputs.

A klicky probe!

That is a nice set of links, thank you for sharing! I still trying to figure out how to combine quickswap and sbr16 rails =)

My pleasure!
Yes, the klicky probe is a HUGE improvement, at least in my case. I would have to say the Top 5 mods to seriously consider as must-haves are:

  • Klicky Probe
  • All-Metal Heatbreak
  • 5015 Fan
  • SBR16 Rails
  • Cable Chains, Strain Relief, Bowden Tube Coupler (I kind of consider all of these in the same category

The quality-of-life improvements to capability and reliability that those provide is just unmatched.

With all the mods, did you try the High Speed beta firmware?

I have not, because…I have actually been running the standard firmware with the same speeds and accels as the high speed Vibration Compensation firmware, and have been getting better quality because the prints are not suffering from the detail smoothing that comes with the VC firmware’s input shaping algorithms.

I am reading this post essentially as “you need to invest two Bambu Labs worth in time to make this a halfway reliable 2021 tech printer”.

Switched a year ago to Bambu and never looked back. Still have my Snapmaker, mostly collecting dust, sometimes used for some small CNC jobs, but certainly not as a 3D printer after enjoying the hassle-free no-mods no-tinkering just-productive Bambu experience.

Snapmaker and Bambu Lab each seek to fill a very different segment of the market from each other. It’s like trying to compare a Honda Civic to a Ford truck; they are really not comparable, the only real similarity is that they are both automobiles. If all you need is 3D printing, then yes, a machine specifically designed for that sole purpose will be better. For those who need or prefer the 3-in-1 and modular design of the Snapmaker, these modifications will help them to get the most they can out of the machine.
