SM Orca wall parameter

Still trying to transition to SM Orca and I keep hitting questions; some of which I can find on-line, some not so much. {SM A350}

When using the SM Orca default profile for the PROCESS parameter, the line width default is 0.42mm, and up to 0.45mm for an inner wall. I understand the rational “provides a slight overlap between adjacent wall lines. This “squish” forces the lines together, creating a stronger, more airtight, and denser wall compared to a perfect, non-overlapping 0.4mm line” (per an on-line reply).

Question: when trying to calculate a flow parameter using the standard 20x20mm cube with 0.8mm walls, what do I use for the wall parameter?

Using the SM PLA default filament parameters of 0.98 flow I get:

0.8 walls gives me a flow parameter of 0.94

0.82 walls gives me a flow parameter of 0.97

0.84 walls gives me a flow parameter of 0.99

This indicates that there really is NO “slight overlap between adjacent wall lines“ but rather just a thicker wall line.

Anybody have a better thought on setting flow for new filaments using SM Orca, or is SM Orca flow calibration (using YOLO) a better way? I’m more use to calipers than my calibrated eyeball, but I’d like to hear what the community is doing.

THANKS!
