Skips in the layer lines

I have a model 2.0
I have been having issues lately with my printer creating little gaps in the the infill and in the print. What I’ll hear is a popping sound coming from the head and then it doesn’t dispense the filament for about a half a second or less, leaving a gap in the run.
I have been running the printer pretty frequently for about 2 months, I’d say at least 2/3 times a week. This problem only started about 2/3 weeks ago.

  • I have dried out the filament multiple times to a Relative Humudity of 25%
  • I have tried different types of filaments, both of PLA and of ABS.
  • I have cleaned the outside of the nozzle with a wire brush, getting the buildup off the head.
  • I have tried to clean the inside, but it comes out clean, as far as I can tell.
  • I checked the laser head to make sure it is at the proper offset.
  • I have also swapped heads to the second hot end head that the part came with.
  • I have fiddled with the retraction distance, going from 4mm to 10mm.

I have run out of ideas and have no idea why this is happening.
Has anyone had this issue?

If it pops there is moisture in the filament, try drying for longer (like 6h at 50°C for Pla).

I would agree with you, but I just did that and it’s still popping and skipping sections.

It also looks like the filament isn’t coming out of the nozzle straight, it has a tendency to curl as it exits the nozzle.

Any other ideas?

Popping has to be water / humidity. Pla will not pop otherwise.

Skipping lines is maybe caused by bad feeding. You are using a dryer; can the filament run free without resistance?
