Single extrude module dead trouble shooting

Hello all,

So it looks like i got a clogged nozzle. it ran like that for a hour or two. pulled the filament out cleaned up the shredded filament dust etc.

Now trying to reload the filament i cant get the head to heat up, it just sits there, the fan does not come on, nothing…

any suggestions??

Thank you!!

Check if your toolhead cable is correctly seated (switch off machine before - people have damaged their controller and toolhead by accidentily inserting the toolhead cable wrong way around with machine turned on), and also check if the connector of the hotend/thermistor is still well connected. I suppose the latter has a certain chance to get dislodged by your undertaking. If all cables are sitting well and still it does not work:

  • attach another toolhead (to double check that your toolhead cable is issue free, and also the controller is working)
  • Closely inspect if any wire has broken from your thermistor (and potentially also the heater)
  • If you have, as a test replace your hotend with a spare one - does it work then?

This should help you getting closer to the root cause…

Hello Hauke,

thanks for the advise! and sorry it took a bit to get back to you.

I have tried all your suggestions, the other tool heads work fine and still no life out of the print head :frowning:

I think its replacement time?

thanks,

Kevin

Potentially yes - but did you check the internal cabeling of the printhead? I mean this connector:

If you have a spare hotend, perhaps try that one first.

Hi Hauke,

yes, it looks fine i put in a brand new hot head and everything checked the pins…

It was printing just b4 it quit. i originally thought it was a clog but I’m guessing the heat just turned off and it was not a clog.

Thanks
