Setting a model to start printing ABOVE the plate

OK so I know that sounds weird, but here’s the scenario:
I’m using the dual print head
I have a 2 color model (2 parts)
One part is a cube and the other part is embossed surfaces on all 6 sides.
I bring in the embossed surfaces and it places the part directly on the printing surface. That’s good.
I bring in the cube and it also places it directly on the printing surface, but I want it to move upwards the thickness of the embossed surface, but it will not let me move it in the Z direction. I can move it using the up arrow but when I let go it snaps it back to the printing surface.
Is there ANY WAY to allow the cube to move upwards in the Z axis and stay where I put it?
Thanks!

Not sure about Luban, but in Cura there’s a tick mark that says “Automatically drop model to the build plate” or so. Since Luban is Cura-based, look for that setting and turn it off. Not in front of Luban right now, so cannot look myself.

Can you group the objects, hold shift select both and in the top line of Luban pick group, telling Luban they are two parts of a larger object.

Just tested this with a box and lid. Once both box.STL and lid.STL we’re grouped I could select either one and move them individually in all 3 dimensions and the Z would not snap the object back to the plate but leave it up in the air. It also generated gcode in same position with or without support

Well, that just worked A-OK!
Played around a bit to get the feel and was able to get the parts put together the way I wanted and I now have the gcode created for dual printing.
Will send an update upon “successful” printing tomorrow.
Thanks for the great help.

I tried it and it works. But when trying to position the upper part over the top it looks like it can only be done by eye, so you could end up with a small gap or a slight overlap.
