Re-running laser projects

Burning Business cards.

I have a template which is fixed to the bed so that I only need to set up the origin and focus once, but the SM (as far as I can see) refuses to just do the same job again. It insists on making me go through the whole focus/origin ritual every time.

I was hoping that there was some way it might go back to the machine origin and “re-home” and then go to the job origin and re-run the job.

Is there a trick to make this happen?

If you have a Snapmaker original, you could simply tap on go to work origin and press start if everything on the next job is similar.
Its been a while since I had this machine so forgive me for guessing.

SM350.

Hmm… Let me try that. I was hoping it was something simple like this.
This type of tool though, makes me reluctant to just try stuff at random. :slight_smile:

In this case you opened your topic in the false category, I will change this for you.

What toolhead are you using?

SM 350 with 40W blue laser.

When the job is done, it takes me back through the whole homing, focusing, and set work origin drill. I’m not seeing a way to “just do it again”.

This answer was for another machine category as you set it initially wrong.

Unfortunately I don’t own a 40W laser so, sorry no expertise here.

If you want a fully repeatable setup, you’ll need to follow one of the guides for a repeatable origin. Likely grab Lightburn, unless you want to edit the gcode by hand each time for custom header/footer.

Little hacky guide (I would suggest finding your origin, then editing the gcode by hand);
