Pulse Handle and Touch setter

While initially setting up my snapmaker A350T i noticed in the quick setup manual that there was a pulse handle and possibly a touch setter in one of the photos. These would both be absolutely fantastic add-ons. Any word on either one of these? Also adding a menu for 3D printing to select which type of filament you are using before printing would be a great add-on to the firmware. Say you generated some G-code while using PLA and then switched to a different filament (PETG, ABS etc.) and went to print the same project from the touchscreen and a menu came up to select your filament settings instead of going through and adjusting every setting to accommodate your new filament choice. I think that would be a nice addition as well as the touch setter for the CNC router and Pulse handle! :man_shrugging:

Not that I’ve heard. I’d guess that they’re just photoshoot props. Although it is possible that Snapmaker has or had such modules in development—we likely wouldn’t find out until they were nearing completion.

The thing is, the gcode doesn’t contain anything that indicates “this is to be printed with PLA”, it just tells the printer to heat the nozzle to such-and-such a temperature, start at such-and-such a distance from the bed, extrude such-and-such an amount of plastic, move at such-and-such a speed to such-and-such a location, and so on. So you can’t really change those settings for gcode that’s already been created—the poor machine would have to reverse engineer and regenerate the whole thing.

You are right, i didnt think that through thoroughly. I am new to the 3D printing scene but understand G and M codes pretty well as i am a machinist. It would be nice if there was a variable setting in the machine telling it to do a call back to the selected filament type (temp settings, etc.) If that makes any sense. Just saying! :man_shrugging: The pulse handle and touch setter would definitely be an awesome add-on though but im sure it was just a prop and is hopefully it is in the works. Any word on such add-ons from anyone would be much appreciated though!

SM used to have a roadmap of future upgrades and add-ons on Trello.
It’s been long since abandoned. They said they’d start posting updates on https://blog.snapmaker.com but haven’t updated since January.

The only product that has been announced that hasn’t yet been released is the dual-extruder module which is supposed to arrive sometime this year, (Q@ or 3 originally promised). They mention something about “new machines” in the blog but no idea what that means. New configurations? Different combos of heads and modules? Actual new machines?
