Printing sketchy supports with no Z-hop

I decided to try to print this without z-hop :face_with_peeking_eye: Will it fail or not? What do you think?

Material: PLA
Layer height: 0.3
Nozzle: 0.6
Bed temp: 70
Bed surface: Clean-ish
Bed material: PEI (standard buildplate)
Nozzle temp: 210
Speed: 100
Z-hop: Off

Any thaughts?

From what I can see of the model, standard rectilinear supports instead of tree would be a lot better. Since your overhangs are all 90 degrees, it would create a solid support platform, and they’re stronger overall. The rounded area you can see through the supports, make sure to face towards the cooling duct if it’s unsupported. Reducing your layer height will help with overhangs as well.

In addition to everything @Skreelink said, I would use a raft instead of a brim.

It survived :slightly_smiling_face: I was wondering if I would see any improvements in terms of wall smoothness because of the disabled z-hop but I don’t…

I don’t use z Hop

Works good and print is faster

Yea I was thinking of starting to use it less but I dont really see the point in disabling it (exept for time), if it doesn’t improve surface quality. I will continue to use it because I like when the nozzle stays clear of the part when traveling…

True, better then the combing mode. You right
