I got a Snapmaker 2.0 A150 (I think? It’s not mentioned anywhere on the box? and I’ve been printing a lot the last two days. Yesterday I came home to a print that just stopped halfway through. Now when I turn on the machine it won’t heat the nozzle anymore.
I inspected the nozzle heating element and the temperature sensor and the sensor still works, but the heating element doesn’t. It just doesn’t warm up at all.
When I measured the voltage on the two wires for the heating element I do measure 24 volts when it should be heating, but it doesn’t heat at all.
If it gets voltage, and the thermal sensor still tests ok, then it seems like the hot end element itself must’ve burnt out.
They sell these as replacements – been a long time since my original order but I seem to recall it coming with one spare? I bought the A250 during Kickstarter. But I also added an extra build plate, extra hot end replacement, and some other stuff to my order once it got close to fulfillment time (Enclosure too) so not 100% sure one was included in the tool kit for everybody.
At least it’s a very cheap replacement part but the wait might suck…
Oh, and you’ll know if you have the A150, 250, or 350 by size. Build plate rough dimensions. e.g. my A250 is like 250x230mm build area. But the print head, nozzles, and hot end are the same. You’ll know if you have the ‘newer’ slightly improved 3D print head by the venting - if it has the 7 long slots for air intake in the right side, and two down low in front it is the newer variant. But again – the hot end is common for both.
Second what rtrski wrote - just to add: The heater cartridges are standard size, so in principle you could get a cartridge alone and replace the broken one, but looking at price and effort needed for that, I’d not bother and get a full Hot End kit as suggested. One of the few things at Snapmaker that are reasonably priced
Thanks for the recommendations. It turned out I have a Snapmaker original. I was lucky enough to find the hot end for that one, and that fixed it. So it’s fully functional now.
