Non SM Rotary Modules?

Anyone tried using a different rotary module with the SM 2.0? If so did it work and what one?

Well, there is the DIY version: https://forum.snapmaker.com/t/diy-rotary-attachment/16252. I’m not aware of anyone having used a different premade rotary module.

There is also this version by @Ronin Snapmaker 2.0 - DIY Rotary Module - part 1 - YouTube

I’ve seen a couple like ElloryJane posted, all powered by bearings and the movement of the Y axis.

I’ve also seen a user that made what appears to be a powered rotary module for the original, but there aren’t a lot of details in the post. My understanding is that several of the users that were working to understand the CAN bus network wanted to make powered rotary modules. That’s just my memory of the situation though, I haven’t kept up with the state of it.

:astonished: wow, looks interesting - @brvdboss thanks for sharing the link.
I am trying to understand how it works based on shared schematic and PCB.
I think that the CAN communication is only used to register the rotary module in the controller at startup - and then the stepper motor is controlled directly from the Snapmaker 2.0 - just like linear modules.
