I’ve seen people say that they replaced the controller fan on the SMO with the Noctura 12v but had to add an extra bit since the controller is 24v. I see that Noctura has a 24v 40mm fan now and am wondering if anyone has had success with it?
've been trying to use it myself with their 2-pin adaptor that came with the fan but I can’t seem to get it to turn on.
This is a new mount for the fan that includes a mount for a buck converter.
Hi!
Yes, I’ve seen that, I am aware that people have been using the 12v with the buck. I was hoping by getting the 24v fan I could circumvent having to do the extra step, so I am wondering if anyone has had any success with doing that?
Is the fan 10 or 20 mm wide? If it is 20mm, you will need to print a replacement panel for the back of the power supply but I have no doubt it will work.
One thing that you may need to try is to reverse the polarity of the wires on the JST connector.
It’s this one:

I replaced the 3DP head fan with a 30mm fan (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0757N6B8P), and I had to swap the polarity of the wires. It looks like the controller is a 40mm fan, but I didn’t take it apart to verify.
I was disappointed that the fan wouldn’t run at all originally; I was expecting it to run backwards if wired incorrectly. Since I bought a 4 pack, I just altered one to see if it worked, and it did.
That worked like a charm! Thanks a lot
