Hello,
Bought a J1 and will get it delivered today.
My question is, do I have to disassemble the hotend and check the thermal paste in the cold end, applied correctly?
Are new printers get shipped with the new hotends, with better cold end cooling and I don’t have to check anything?
If old hotend works with no clogs due to heat creep, there is no reason to take it apart. If ir fails, thermal paste should do the trick but I suppose Snapmaker takes better care of this now too.
New hotends work rather flawlessly.
Im printed now a couple hours in PLA and a little bit with ABS and no clogs so far.
The only issue I have is that the left extruder has noticeable play in the linear bearing. It make bad noises and ringing is higher too. Right extruder is ok. Will contact support for replacement parts this weekend.
ABS should not be prone to clogging at all but having PLA with no clogs on SJ1 is great, congratulations!
I had linear rail and bearings that hold extruders replaced under warranty but to tell the truth - replacement was not really better however service from Snapmaker side was great indeed - very fast response. So I ended up with ordering original HIWIN (not a fake one) by supplier I am used to co-operate in my paid job and this gave total difference - no play at all, much less noise and ringing on printed surface too. Well - expensive though despite HIWIN is not the top expensive supplier of linear rails.
I got the replacement x axis today. No play at all. Looks nice. Greased the bearing from behind.
Now I only have to figure out how I have to replace the axis the best possible way. No instructions added to the replacement part.
I printed around 100h or so with no clog with PETG with PLA Support. Doors closed, top cover removed. I got lucky so far. Ordered the new hardened nozzles anyway. Need to print CF material in the future too.
Edit:
Replaced the x-rail with the new one with the help of this post:
Looks good. No click noises anymore when pushing the extruder back and forth. No play between the axis and the extruder.
Big thanks to the customer support how send a new x rail the other day they received my email.
