Luban CNC help (A250T)

Hey there,

I have a cribbage board I designed in Tinkercad that I want to CNC. The model is basically a cuboid with lines and characters engraved in it. The lines and characters are 3 mm deep.

I want the CNC to cut just the lines and characters you see in the picture. The material is already cut to shape. I plan to fill in the cuts with resin afterwards and then manually drill the holes with a drill press. When I make a toolpath in Luban, it is cutting what I want it to cut but the issue is the depth. I put 3 in ‘Target Depth’ and .5 in ‘Stepdown’. In my mind this means it should do 6 passes lowering by .5 mm each pass. But it is only doing two or three passes, not reaching near it’s target depth. I’ve tried messing with the target depth and stepdown a little but it still won’t cut deep enough.

Any ideas? I appreciate any help.

(I know Luban is super limited and I should learn F360. I tried for a bit but got super frustrated with it as I couldn’t get it to do what I want.)

Does the Luban preview show 6 passes?

I don’t see any details like that. All it says is the projected time to complete.

Is your work piece height correctly (set)?
As snapuser wrote, look at your gcode preview and count the step downs.
You could even edit the gcode manually and repeat the steps with a new z height…

I always start the job on the machine itself and set the work origin right at the surface in the middle. I never thought of looking at the gcode. Let me take a look at that and get back to you.

You will see all the passes in the preview, easier than looking at gcode.
