Lightburn "Enable Z axis" with Rotary added a move up in Z by 10 mm --> Learn from my mistake

I first thought that Snapmaker messed up the most recent firmware, but turns out I was unfair - it was Lightburn, and after all: My stupidity (no surprise here!). My problem was that I wanted to laser something with the rotary module, and always at start the laser moved up and out of focus. It was actually caused by me enabling this setting:

I just enabled it because I might later play around with it, but I should have thought a bit about the implications. The Z-height is calculated by

  • The material thickness PLUS
  • The support thickness PLUS
  • Any Z offset given in the Job.

Turns out the default for support was set to 10mm:

And that caused the laser to move out of focus by virtue of a Z-move up by 10 mm via GCode…

So, better think things through before switching on settings on a whim… stupid me
