Laser Engraving on a Tapered Tumbler

Is anyone laser engraving on tapered tumblers? If so how are you setting it up? I’ve seen DIY projects using the X&Y motion of the waste board, but they were engraving on a straight tumbler. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

You could rig that jig to have an offset, so the top is level. If the top surface is level, it’ll engrave just fine.

To laser engrave on a tapered tumbler, you need to prop up one end of the rotary tool so that the top line is level.

Thank you for the reply. I derived the contour of the tumbler using CAD and designed a support the tumbler rests on to keep it level.

Are you happy with the results you achieved using your adapter? Could you describe it in more detail and show the results?

If you’re using the Snapmaker Rotary Module, a simple adapter is very useful to mount the entire setup at an angle – something like this:
