I recently lost all my autocad drawings and stl files. It crushed me! but the good thing is that I have most of the stl files saved onto my Snapmaker 2.0 machine from when I had exported them via Wifi from Luban to the machine to print.
I’d like to retrieve these files now and store them safely on to an external hard drive. Does anyone know how to get the files off the machine itself?
Users have been trying for years to get Snapmaker to allow us to move files from the touchscreen back to USB. Currently, there’s still no way to pull old gcode files off the machine.
You could try to contact support, I think there was someone talking about a potential test firmware for exporting gcodes from the screen but I can’t find the post right now and I think it was communicated it could take a while because of more primary tasks..
Unfortunately there is not much hope for me because it’s a feature request for years now..
I asked for this feature many times in the past years. It would not be to difficult to-enable the transfer of the g-codes from the machine to the USB stick.
I’ve installed file browsers on mine for this very reason. The gcode files are not saved within the devices storage. It’s within the snapmaker fab screen app data. Which, unless someone figures out a root method, is unavailable to browse.
EDIT: I’ve also tried many of the old root methods as well, none of them worked. Without a way to USB into the screen for ADB it’ll be difficult as well, it’ll have to be an on-device root method.
I belive there is a way to access UART on the screen with some soldering. Pins are available. But I didn’t have time to finish this. I’ve even did the soldering part, can’t get to testing it and troubleshooting.
