Helllo there ! I Build a 3d Modell from a 3d Scan from an Website to make it useful for me
as an Artist to fill it up with liquid Bronze. In that need I try to save Material and make the
full Print hollow with an Method to double the Modell an do it inside the original as an inner
shell, so within the Luban it shows me in these Hollow Modus the outer shell and the smaller inner Shell an all looks pretty fine, so i start the Printing with my conditions ( fast thin brim with support and fill 0% ( b cause for an good away burning within the pouring with liquid metal the hexagon structure isn’t helpful and a waste of material) so it doesn’t print the inner shell only the outer head. I tried some options ( with fill 1% and so on… but never got the inner head/shell within may print so I abbortet most at 7-20% of the process. what can I do ?
I can’t read German, but it sounds like you’re slicing in Vase Mode. That makes a single continuous line of filament. The head never stops printing, travels, and starts printing. Although your screenshot shows it printing multiple walls, so maybe not.
I have a slightly out of date version of Luban, but this is the Model Structure Type drop down
If that’s not it, how thick are the model’s walls? Luban only prints features that are 0.4mm (the size of the nozzle). If the wall is only 0.4mm thick, you’ll only get a single width of filament.
ok thanks for the tipps - I found with your tip for the wall size a way to tell the printer there
is an inner wall, needed heavy time to found Meshmixer out, convert and more… puhh not fine.
so there I stand wit an inner an outer shell so go on for tests. only one more prob
makes me issues - the support - it should be only outside not inside of the model. I try to draw it with the tool but alway when I get the preview its get overwritten by the standard support, a when I decide no support also goes away to.
heres a pic with the inner shell and outer shell so thaz okedok but now I have that
dammd support inside of the head, have any idea ? sunny greetings from Germany
hello ! I tried Cura in my misery of time stress, but couldn’t even find how connect my printer
a350 with the program… ip whas checked 3times and always the right but never found my snap… so try it with cable but newer Macs only have usb c an then adapter search, ok found but the usb on the connector has the wrong direction… so it whaz not so fine for me to waste 4hrs or so to learn how to connect just for try. gbt couldn’t help, and in fact
seriously Luban in an newer version feels good to work with, in my first post with only one printable shell there whas the support how it should be - just outside and no fill or support inside the model. maybe it hangs on that hole in the middle. but not sure
For Cura to connect to the Snapmaker, you need to install the Snapmaker plugin from Cura’s Marketplace. The alternative is do it as @Boxkite said.
If you are using Cura, you can use the “Support Blocker” tool to tell it where you do NOT want supports to be, then you just slice the file like normal.
You can also adjust how steep of angle needs supports. I’ve found that when I print with a layer height of 0.1mm, I can get 60% overhangs without support. If I print with a 0.2mm layer height, I can only get 50% overhangs without support.
Your model will need supports. Those nearly horizontal sections in the middle will need them. I don’t see anything on the inside that looks too challenging, but it’s hard to say for sure just by looking at a screenshot. I like spend time going through the layers before print to see if the print head is printing over open air.
