I am brand new to all of this. We just purchased a snapmaker 2.0 when going to do our first project with the laser engraver it told us to do a firmware update. We did this and it locked up the print head. It will not move at all. We did the set up before updating firmware and it worked perfectly. Now it won’t let us move it at all, no up down no homing nothing. Is this a know issue? What do we do? Yes we have checked all plugs. Oh and it is in an enclosure if that matters.
Download the latest from here: Snapmaker 2.0 Firmware Updates and Downloads and put it on the USB drive. Then ‘print’ the file to load it. If it doesn’t work after that, try downgrading to say, 1.13.2 and see if that helps. If they work from there, THEN upgrade back to 1.14.2.
I suggest manually installing 1.13.2 to all toolheads first (install, turn off, plug in another toolhead, install, repeat). Then test 1.14.2 again, if it works, upgrade the other toolheads as well.
Hi, Sorry I am not clear. are you saying each toolhead needs firmware update ? I though if I update the touch screen firmware we are all set. lets say I updated touch screen and toolheads do not work. in this case how do I update each toolhead ? If I disconnect the rest and keep only one toolhead can touch screen be able to update the toolhead firmware ? in my case will be X,Y,Z, laser 10w.
Is there any load instructions I can fallow?
Yeah, it’s a bit annoying… The machine will update once over wifi, and whatever module is attached at the time. However; the toolhead modules and linear modules also have built in firmware, which is not updated by the machine if the controller is already at the latest.
To quickly update each module;
1: Turn the machine off, and attach the cable to one of the modules, say the 10W laser (no need to mount it to the frame).
2: Make sure you have the firmware .bin
file on the USB flash drive and inserted into the machine.
3: Turn the machine on and let it boot up fully.
4: Tap Start
on the touchscreen, followed by USB
at the bottom, and tap the .bin
file.
5: Wait for the machine to update, it will reboot itself and eventually say successful.
Afterwards, turn the machine off and attach a different toolhead, like the CNC module and repeat. This will ensure all modules are updated to the latest firmware.
If needed install the 1.13.2
version of firmware to ALL toolheads first, THEN upgrade to the latest.
Thank you for firmware update information. Now it makes sense to update one by one. My second question is when I load a bin file to update how does the touch screen know I am updating attached device for example a laser module.
Thai you
The machine knows what module is attached, and updates accordingly.
