In less than 20 hours of prints my #1 feeder started squeaking and decided to look inside thinking it might’ve been a piece of filament.
Nope, but I spent an extra hour looking for a spring instead of doing a 10 minute job.
So beware of the 2 white plastic board spacers, and the 2 little springs on top of the magnetized pressure pin above the filament feed entry points. If you make the spacers drop inside the enclosure and think a gentle upside down tap will work, just realize those magnetized pins can fall out easier than you’d imagine and the spring will dance and bounce, somewhere! Mine wound up more than 5 feet across the room and in a dust bunny. A broom, a magnet, and crawling on the floor for an hour was needed to fix stupid.
And the final insult was the squeak isn’t really gone…but after wiping off the friction/contact wheel, where it makes contact with the underside of the board, did help a bit.
I think if you lose a spring you could make replacement out of ball point pen spring but you’re only gonna need a small piece cuz it doesn’t need a lot of pressure downward to keep the filament in the feeder hole.
Anyway, loving the U1 but hating myself for being dumb…learn from my mistake. Regards.
