Discussion of Snapmaker 2.0 Firmware Updates

1600mW laser module stuck in update loop with latest firmware release.

Turn on the machine, says Outdated module (Laser Module) firmware detected. Please Update.

I update, it goes through the process, then after it loads up again the same message appears.

My Laser module is a brick now.

Same issue. I had to unplug the module and reboot the machine. Then I used a flash drive to manually downgrade the firmware back to the previous revision. Plugged the module back in and let it update it and it’s working again on the old firmware.

Let us know how it goes… can’t live without Marlin support now!

Hi nivekmai

Currently I’m not in the office due to the holiday, so sorry for the reply late.

I noticed that as well, Due to the reason that I’m not the author of this repo, I will contact my colleagues once we back into office (will be around early Feb).

We will update the further news on this thread so please stay tuned.

Regards,
Alan

Hi,

I have Problerms with the FĆrmware 1.15.11 because my AIR PURIFIER isnt recognized anymore.
Has anyone the same problems or a solution ?

I think its the combination of :

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that controller will not initializing unrecognized module to prevent firmware halted

and the canbus hub

Regards Frank

Long story short: Its a Bug. I installed the 1.14.3 and anythings runs normaly :+1:
I will leave it here for other users

Ouch! You never release to production on a Friday, or the day before a holiday break! It’s bad luck!

You can add emergency stop switches to the list of things that don’t work with 15.

My air purifier did work with 1.1.5.11.

What did NOT work was setting laser power (10W laser module). It was always the same, no matter if you set 20% or 100%. I checked and the G-Code was fine, so I guessed it was a firmware problem. After downgrading to 1.14.3 the laser power setting worked again.

Luban and the Firmware are a real bugfest.

My feeling is that the anything connected to the canbus hub except the enclosure is not recognized while booting…

Same here. Got stuck with outdated module error loop. Everyone should stay off 1.15 until they fix it.

I bricked my controller downgrading to 1.12. Seems I should have downgraded to 1.13.

Had a few funnies on 1.15 firmware as well.

  1. Module update loop as other people have described.
  2. Out of 6 identical laser cut pieces on one sheet, 2 did not do the 2nd laser cut pass so the 2 pieces where not cut through and unusable.

Downgraded via USB to 1.14.3 and everything is working as expected. Interesting decision to release new firmware on a Friday and just prior to Chinese New Year when support is not available!

I’d say interesting decision to install new firmware on a Friday and just prior to Chinese New Year when support is not available!

Not sure why everyone is in a rush to be a guinea pig when it comes to updates.

Definitely stay away from 1.15 firmware until they fix it. I got hit with the ā€œoutdated module error loopā€
Tried downgrading via USB to 1.13.2 and bricked the touchscreen on both of my snapmaker machines.

Best of luck to the all of the Snapmaker support team members returning to work next Monday. Definitely going to have a lot of support tickets to sift through.

same problem here… got my new Printer today and seems like i bricked it with updating the Firmware… thats what i call a first impression

I was in a rush to try a new firmware, because my laser kept hitting the bed. But it turned out it was a Luban 4.5.0 bug…

I always wonder what they do in terms of Quality Control… not much obviously :frowning: And those that receive the dual extrusion module need the newest firmware to use it… what a bummer!

Everybody, agree. But those of us who have been trying to get a working unit after a year, we await firmware and Luban updates like crack.

I got the Dual extruder yesterday and just installed it. Without 1.15 it doesn’t recognise the module and they have disabled the upgrade via WiFi. I’m assuming because of the issues reported above. I upgraded via USB (without reading the reported issues on the form) with the orginal module attached and got the endless loop. I attached the dual extruder and it works okay. Currently going through the calibration process

First part of the calribation processes is the Auto Bed Leveling, it heats the bed to 60C before doing a 5x5 calibration… or it should. It gets to temperture and just sits there after wiggling the hot ends and does nothing. As a former IT Test Manager this is ridiculously poor and would suggest that their Software QA functions is seriously flawed.

One of my biggest gripes is they manked with the homing procedure. It now simply slams into the endstops and backs off a little instead of tapping them, then backing off and resampling slower for accuracy. Now every time it homes, the origin shifts around, particularly on Y and possibly Z. So I’ve downgraded to 1.14.3 + my inline firmware for now.
