I recently acquired the Snapmaker Artisan printer with the 40-watt laser module. The manual suggests using the camera to position the laser. However, the “Camera Capture” menu item is nowhere to be found in Luban. I have the latest version of Luban, and the firmware is up to date. Can someone explain what I need to do?
The 40w has no camera. The manual is for the 1.6w and 10w module.
You have the red laser cross to align your workpiece.
Thanks. That explains everything.
But that cross isn’t exact the zero point. It is about 1cm shifted to the left.
When you do it with luban, it should be calculated out. So normally just navigate the red cross to the start point and start the job should directly run the laser where the red cross was before and start cutting there.
I don’t use luban in more then 5 years. To basic and not intiutive. Octopi to print, deskproto to mill and lightburn to laser.
then you have to set the gcode by yourself to do the offset between laser dot and laser cross.

It depends on how you use lightburn. But not having any alignment or with “yeah, more or less 1cm to left” it is not that easy to do full size engravings.
