When I first got my Artisan just a couple months ago it was so quiet, I was very impressed. Now I’m getting a very loud squealing noise from the y rails when they move fast. Almost like they are dry. Seems to be getting louder with each print. Anyone else experiencing this issue. You can hear the noise at the end of this video.
There was an issue of mismatched bold length during assembly some people reported. It wasn’t in the instructions that some bolts has to be shorter. This caused some awful noises. You should submit a ticket tho Support Ticket Form
Get some WD40 or silicone lubricant. Spray it onto a piece of cloth or paper towel, and wipe the linear rail covers (the shiny silver metal strips) with it. See if the noise goes away.
I’m having a similar issue… my printer is not used heavily and I looked at the maintenance part of the manual and it doesn’t discuss lubricating. Mine squeals when the bed slides forward.
Did the WD40 thing work? Did it cause other issues?
I have had a similar issue with mine when the print, or possibly acceleration speed is too high. Makes a difference noise than shown here, but still not a fun one. Mine sounds more like belt slipping. I had the Y axis do it really bad earlier so I followed the wiki maintenance guide to see if I could find any problems. I didn’t lol. But it was fun learning how the linear actuators work.
Here is the maintenance page: Cleaning the steel strip | Snapmaker Wiki
And here are some pics of one of my linear actuators taken apart just for reference. It was very easy. I didn’t lube mine as I wasn’t sure what “panel wax” was lol. Next time I’ll use some silicone, or PTFE lube probably.
