With the dual head everything defaults to the left print head. The way my printer is set up the right spool does the bulk of the work as the left is harder to get to and is used mainly for support printing. Snapmaker defaults to the left. Even the default printer settings are for the left spool. Only “normal” shows on the right. The left has normal/fast/smooth/precise. You would think there would be an easy config asking which side is default but I can’t find it.
Hello, I think, you can change the head in the window:
to:
Yes, I can change everything. But that doesn’t change the default side when the machine starts
I can’t find it directly in Luban.
Luban is based on Cura. I don’t know if it’s possible to swap the 2 extruders in the settings file “machine.def.json”
left becomes right and right becomes left ???
Too dangerous to test directly. We need an expert…
This is interesting, according to the spec the print volume are as follow
350 mm × 400 mm × 400 mm (Dual Nozzle)
375 mm × 400 mm × 400 mm (Left Nozzle)
400 mm × 400 mm × 400 mm (Right Nozzle)
if you were to print with a single filament only, to maximise the print volume you would print with right nozzle only. Kind of make you wonder why that is not the default nozzle…
Good find. Maybe that’s what my ASA prints work
this option seems to have disappeared in the latest version of Luban.
If the reason for switching is the location of the spools, you can change their locations. There’s a small screw hole in the aluminum rod in each side that can fit the other side’s spool holder on top of the enclosure.
You can also connect the Bowden tube of the left spool to the right extruder and vice versa, so that your left extruder takes from the spool that you like.
I don’t think there’s an easy way to define default extruder in Luban. Haven’t seen that unfortunately.
I also would prefer the right nozzle as default due to its bigger build volume. Unfortunately Luban doesn’t seem to offer such a tweak. For the left nozzle you get whole bunch of options but the right one has just basic adjustment abilities.
I started using “Simplify 3D” as slicer where both nozzles have equal abilities. You can contact the support department of “Simplify 3D” to get a printer profile for the ARTISAN. For me this worked quite well!
