3D-Printing Toolhead broken?

Hi!
We have a Snapmaker 2.0 A350T running at our school. Up to now we’re impressed by the versatility and quality of the machine.

But now I spotted a weird loose part on the lower side of the 3D printhead. It’s on the right side of the extruder, near the backside of the head. Please take a look at the attached photos.

I can pull that part out for about 2cm and also can push it back in. Is there something broken or is this by design and related to some sort offunction? Help is appreciated, thank you!

That is the inductive sensor probe for measuring the z-height above the build plate. It definitely should not be hanging that low. Normally it should be pretty firmly attached inside, and is set to a height of about 1mm above the nozzle tip. You can check it by removing the side plate cover with the 1.5mm screw bit. There is also a screw on the back of the tool head in a slotted recess that is used for adjusting the height, but it doesn’t allow for anywhere near that much movement.

The last photo in this article shows you the screw, and it talks about how to adjust it, but it is not uncommon for the probe to somehow become detached.
